After an 18-year drought, the Royal Challengers Bangalore made history on Tuesday when they defeated the Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to win their first Indian Premier League. Although 11 players may have contributed to the victory, the attention was focused on Indian superstar Virat Kohli as he realized his ambition in franchise cricket. His spouse, the actress Anushka Sharma, was also in the stadium, rooting for both Virat and RCB during the entire match.
Virat and Anushka rejoice in RCB's victory
On the last ball of the 20th over, when RCB secured the victory, Virat Kohli collapsed to the ground, burying his face in his hands. In the audience, Anushka responded similarly, covering her face. The actor then leaped for joy, embracing other members of RCB's cheer squad who were standing next to her in the private box.
Anushka was on the boundary side, cheering for RCB, a few minutes later. As the significance of the moment dawned on him, Virat rushed over and embraced her, tears streaming down his face. Virat was embraced and congratulated by a tearful Anushka, who allowed him to experience one of the most significant moments of his career.
When former RCB star AB de Villiers arrived at the stadium earlier in the evening, he was cheering for his previous team from the sidelines. Anushka also started chanting ‘AB, AB’ along with the audience. Cheering on her friend and her husband's team, she smiled at the camera.
The groundbreaking IPL victory for RCB
In the end, the game came down to nerve, and RCB undoubtedly channeled their years of agony and anguish to make a tremendous comeback and secure a resounding win.
Even as RCB fought hard to find the flourish with the bat and ultimately scored 190/9 with superstar Kohli laboriously scoring 43 off 35 balls, a partisan crowd continued to support the team.

The overall score for RCB didn't seem adequate during the break, but their bowlers' unrelenting work ultimately turned the scoreboard pressure in their favor.
When Josh Hazlewood delivered the second dot ball in a row, securing RCB's victory with 29 required off the last over. Although Shashank Singh hit a brave 61 off 30 balls (3x4s, 6x6s), it was all in vain as Punjab Kings finished with 184 for seven.
