Although Suniel Shetty and Jackie Shroff are in action throughout the second season of Hunter, another performer is stealing the show. Anusha Dandekar is the actress who plays one of the main female characters in the current season. In an exclusive interview with us at OTTplay, Anusha has now said that she carried out all of the action stunts herself. While discussing her shift from VJ to acting, she also happened to reveal further information about her position. Anusha spoke on how VJs are frequently stereotyped and expected to deviate from the norm in order to make a career for themselves in the industry. In conclusion, Anusha also discussed whether there will ever be a chance to collaborate with Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar in the future.

More on Hunter 2 and other topics by Anusha Dandekar...

Hunter gained notoriety for being the program that reintroduced Suniel Shetty to the spotlight. When you got the offer for season 2, did you ever wonder how you would fit into this world? How did you manage to persuade yourself to sign the project in the end?

Suniel Shetty and action are synonymous in your mind. It was amazing to know that he was returning with an action series, and you know it means business. I felt motivated and eager to accept a challenge. They liked me and believed I was a good fit for the position of Guide after my audition. Throughout the trip, all I wanted to demonstrate was that I never doubted whether I belonged, but rather that I made sure they thought I did! It was such an amazing role to perform, it was action, and I was collaborating with the one and only Suniel Shetty, so I don't believe I ever needed to persuade myself.

Hunter thinks of you as being in a very cool position, especially while you're doing it. Walk us through the preparation procedure.

I would love to say I had plenty of time to prepare, but frankly, everything happened so fast. In around a week, I grasped my character and memorized my lines. I wanted to do all of the action sequences myself. Although they did have a stunt double, I was fortunate enough to be able to perform it all and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The day the action director displayed me my first action scene in Thailand is still fresh in my mind. I was just staring at him, wondering, "How will I do this?" But, strangely, it all worked out. It's possible that this persona was created because I've always been physically active, enjoyed sports, been a little bit of a tomboy, and been hyperactive. I hope the audience enjoys what they see!

Are you interested in taking on additional roles in the action genre, or do you want to try something else for the time being?

I would love to do more action. It's a lot of fun, it's definitely hard labor, but it's also exciting and makes you feel like such a badass. Although I would like to try my hand at comedy and drama as well, action has resonated with me deeply, and it's one of those hidden alter egos that you didn't realize you had.

Would you think about going back to the Hunter world if you had the chance?

Yes, a thousand percent. No matter how many seasons they want to do, I would definitely join because it's fantastic entertainment with the right mix of drama, action, and humor! I'd do season 3, 4, 5 if they had it.

When it was still fashionable to be a VJ, you were one of the select few who made the transition to acting. Do you think that it has gotten harder, with some people having more opportunities to demonstrate their talent while the rest are disregarded as if they didn't fight for their way into the industry, and that others are now expected to continue fighting and settling while others are almost handed roles on a silver platter?

People frequently stereotype us because of our history in the VJ industry, and it's difficult for them to view us as anything else. However, it is also our responsibility to break barriers and let people know that we want to accomplish different things. It's a matter of balance. In the past, it was more difficult, but thanks to the internet industry, there are now different avenues in entertainment, giving individuals opportunities and recognition that they might not have gotten previously when there were only big screen possibilities. Everyone now has room. You only need to continue to put in effort, reinvent yourself, and challenge stereotypes. It's all hard effort that has gotten any of us where we are now, even for VJs. And I'm really lucky to have so many diverse opportunities!

Farhan is already nearly an all-rounder in the business, and Shibani has now become a writer as well. Will we be able to see a collaboration with them?

If my family extended me an invitation to audition for a position or made me an offer that I considered to be a great chance and a good fit for me, I would give it my all in a professional manner, 100%. I would undoubtedly collaborate with them if they liked what they saw and hired me. I wouldn't feel at ease in any other situation.

Best wishes to Hunter. Do you have any last comments?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and learn more about my adventure. I would adore it if you all watched Hunter Season 2. I'm glad to be a part of this show because it's not just full of excitement and drama, but it's also a whole lot of fun. And I hope to represent all the girls out there well and kick some ass in this new form.
