Veteran actor Anupam Kher recently praised writer and director Anurag Basu during the promotion of the much-anticipated film Metro In Dino in Mumbai. He called Basu “a brilliant director and a wonderful person,” sharing how much he enjoyed working on such a meaningful project.

“It’s always a pleasure to work with him, especially when it’s a project like this that talks about life,” Anupam said. “Even though we’re not directly involved in the other stories, we’ve lived through similar moments. Working with Anurag on this film feels like a dream come true for me.”

Anupam also spoke about how the anthology format allows for emotional depth and continuity, and how Basu’s clear vision helped shape his performance. “When Anurag told me the story, he was very clear about the emotional flow,” he explained.

He pointed out that trained actors have an advantage in bringing depth to their roles. “We can use our life experiences to make scenes more real. We don’t always have to have lived through everything, because emotional imagination and memory help us. Based on that, we pull off many scenes.”

But he credited Basu for guiding everyone’s emotions perfectly. “He really tapped into our emotional side and brought out the best in us,” Anupam added.

Metro In Dino is a follow-up of sorts to Basu’s 2007 hit Life in a… Metro. It tells four stories about modern couples dealing with love, challenges, and life in today’s India. The cast includes Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, and Anupam Kher himself.

The film is set to release on July 4, 2025. It promises a heartfelt look at relationships in the city, all brought to life by Basu’s skilled direction.
