Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra are currently on cloud nine after the immense success of their film Amar Singh Chamkila. The biopic, which portrays the life of Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila, marks Parineeti’s second biographical film. Previously, she received much appreciation for Saina, which was based on Badminton player Saina Nehwal.

Amar Singh Chamkila's triumph on Netflix

Amar Singh Chamkila has grabbed the 6th position in the list of most-watched non-English films on Netflix, with 2,400,000 viewerships, till April 14.  The biopic has now become the most successful project for Parineeti after her marriage. But did you know there are several key things that the 35-year-old actress had to avoid while filming the biopic? Recently in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, she shared that they had been filming Amar Singh Chamkila for 2 consecutive years, and for that, she had to avoid public appearances. She was shocked that people were making rumours of pregnancy and plastic surgeries.

Parineeti took inspiration from Vidya Balan

The Ishaqzaade actress shared that she had to gain 15 kg weight to match the appearance of Chamkila’s wife Amarjot Kaur. Due to this excessive weight gain, she wasn't able to attend any events, red carpets, or even media interactions. While recalling her old self, Parineeti shared that she looked the worst in her life at that time, but then, she got highly inspired by Vidya Balan gaining weight for The Dirty Picture.

However, all these negativities did not affect her decision to do Amar Singh Chamkila. She further shared that it had been her dream for 9 years to work with director Imtiaz Ali, and finally, it got fulfilled. Since her debut, she was sure that she would work with Imtiaz Ali one day. Hence, no matter what people think of her, or whatever rumours they make, nothing really matters to her as long as her dream comes true.

Story of Amar Singh Chamkila

Amar Singh Chamkila tells the story of the Punjabi musician, who was assassinated in 1988 along with his second wife Amarjot Kaur. Chamkila is still one of the most celebrated Punjabi musicians. Hence, his biopic was one of the most-awaited films in recent times. Amar Singh Chamkila is currently the most searched Bollywood film on Google.

This is the first time Diljit Dosanjh worked in a biopic, that too in the titular role, and he's super excited. During an interaction with Netflix, the Proper Patola-singer revealed that he never hides a single thing in life. People even used to listen to Chamkila's songs secretly due to numerous scandals, but he never did that. Rather he is proud to listen to Chamkila's songs.
