When music composer Amaal Mallik severed ties with his family and made it public on social media, he made news. Amaal discussed his parents' financial situation in a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan. His decision to become a composer was influenced by the fact that his father, Daboo Malik, had failed in the music business, he remembered.
Parents' financial challenges, according to Amaal Mallik
"My mother saw a lot of bad times and poverty because nothing worked out for my dad in the industry," Amaal said, reminiscing about her mother's experience overcoming financial hardship. She would direct us in making music, but not as a career. She has seen the worst; she only had 500 rupees left. It was like I was a 10-year-old watching a marriage disintegrate. The industry isn't creating a place for Inki (For me, it was like being a 10-year-old youngster seeing a relationship break up. They were unable to find their place in the industry), and those things only made me want to be a music composer just for my father even more. I wanted to be a cricket player if not.
According to Amaal, his mother frequently saw his approach to spending money on music as "foolish." He acknowledged that he routinely went over budget for his songs; if he had a budget of ₹20 lakh, he would wind up spending ₹25 lakh; and if his budget was ₹30 lakh, he would increase it to ₹35 lakh, frequently contributing ₹5 lakh from his own money. His mother didn't comprehend the rationale behind his choices, and she was unhappy with the fact that he didn't save money, according to Amaal.
He said that he usually keeps his dinner bills from his mother if they go above a certain threshold, even if his father is aware of all of his financial transactions. Additionally, Amaal asserted that many major manufacturers would not clear about 40% of his payment, saying, "I am owed around ₹25 lakh in total, but it doesn't matter because God has been kind, and you can make this in one night and one performance."
