By insuring the lives of about 650 stuntmen and stuntwomen throughout India, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has made a notable advance in addressing long-standing safety issues in the film business. This action comes in the wake of the tragic recent demise of stuntman SM Raju on the set of Vettuvam, a Tamil movie starring Arya and directed by Pa Ranjith.
Akshay's strategy offers coverage for health and accidents
The entertainment industry's safety criteria were highlighted by the terrible event. Akshay's new insurance plan, which covers health and accident coverage for hundreds of action crew members, acknowledges this deficiency.
"Thanks to Akshay sir, around 650 to 700 stuntmen and action crew members in Bollywood are now covered under insurance," said veteran stunt professional Vikram Singh Dahiya, who is renowned for his work in films like Gunjan Saxena, Antim, OMG 2, and the forthcoming Dhadak 2 and Jigra. The policy covers cashless medical care for injuries costing between ₹5 and ₹5.5 lakh, regardless of whether the injury occurred on or off set.
Raju, a stuntman, dies suddenly
Veteran stunt performer SM Raju was killed in a horrible accident while performing a stunt on the sets of director Pa Ranjith's forthcoming movie.
On July 13, the incident happened, and a distressing video from the shoot has since appeared online, raising alarm and worry throughout the business. In the video, Raju is seen trying a dangerous car-toppling maneuver. The vehicle lost control, flipped several times in the air, and landed headfirst as it struck the ramp. The crew didn't realize how serious the collision was right away. They discovered Raju severely wounded when they hurried to the vehicle. He passed away at the scene from his wounds despite receiving rapid attention.
