Singer and music composer Adnan Sami, originally from Pakistan and who became an Indian citizen in 2016, has frequently encountered criticism from Pakistani citizens regarding his relocation. Many have speculated that financial reasons motivated this decision. However, during a recent appearance on India TV's Aap Ki Adalat, Adnan clarified the true reason for his move to India.

Adnan Sami discussed the lack of support from the Pakistani music industry.

He expressed his disappointment with the industry, stating, "I come from a very privileged family. I was never driven by greed for money, as I was raised in an environment where I had everything. An artist always yearns for an audience. I received much love from Pakistan, but I desired a broader audience. After releasing songs in 1998, individuals in the Pakistani music industry believed my music would not succeed and that my career was over. Consequently, they did not promote those songs. The album was released without anyone knowing and quickly faded away. I felt very disheartened. At that time, I was in Canada and was aware that this was done intentionally."

Adnan Sami reminisced about a conversation with the legendary singer Asha Bhosle, saying, "I confided in her about my feelings of dejection, explaining that people in Pakistan had chosen not to collaborate with me. I expressed my desire to record a song with her in London. She responded, 'Why in London? If you truly want to embark on something new, come to Mumbai, as it is the heart of Hindi music, and anything that gains popularity here will resonate globally.' Thus, I traveled there. Asha ji took great care of me and arranged for me to stay at RD Burman's residence. It felt like residing in a music sanctuary. The songs that were dismissed in Pakistan, such as Lift Karade and Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein, when released here, made history."

He concluded by stating that the affection and acceptance he experienced in India were unparalleled. Adnan also emphasized that it was not only him—renowned artists like ghazal legends also...
