In a recent wave of social media commentary, new allegations have surfaced against Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) casting director, Shanoo Sharma, following public statements from actors Isha Talwar and Abhinav Shukla. Their experiences have opened a wider conversation about the audition process in Bollywood, with an anonymous social media user also sharing their negative encounter with the casting department at YRF. The collective accounts suggest a pattern of behavior that has left many actors feeling disrespected and demoralized.
Isha Talwar's "Weird" Audition Experience
Actor Isha Talwar, known for her roles in projects like Mirzapur and Article 15, has been at the forefront of these discussions. She recounted a particularly unsettling experience from her early career, where Shanoo Sharma asked her to perform a crying scene in a busy Mumbai restaurant. Talwar detailed the incident in a comment on a social media post, stating that she was told she should have "no inhibitions as an actor." The actress described the request as "confusing" and "weird," explaining that it "shattered my confidence as a young girl in films." She questioned why a senior casting director would put a young actor through such a situation, emphasizing that auditions should be held in a proper space.

Ultimately, Talwar refused to perform the scene and, as a result, did not get the role. However, she concluded her story by stating that she has no regrets, as she "dint give in to the weird ask" and maintained her dignity. Her story has resonated with many aspiring actors and has been seen as a brave step in calling out a prominent figure in the industry.
A Chorus of Similar Experiences and No Response
Following Talwar's post, actor Abhinav Shukla also shared his own discouraging encounter with Shanoo Sharma from 2014. He recalled being told that he was a "good-looking guy but that's it, spark is missing." Shukla noted the contrasting experience he had years later with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who was full of praise for his talent.
Adding to these personal accounts, an anonymous social media user shared a comment, which Talwar then posted on her Instagram Stories. This user, who claimed to have worked in the assistant direction team at YRF, alleged that the studio is built on "shattered expectations and rude behaviour towards" many. The anonymous source also claimed that Sharma will "break you by telling you why you are not good enough." Talwar commented on this post, stating she is lucky to be in a position where she can speak out.
As of now, there has been no official reaction from Shanoo Sharma to the allegations made by Isha Talwar, Abhinav Shukla, or the anonymous source. The silence from the casting director and YRF has only intensified the conversation on social media, with many users demanding more transparency and accountability in the casting process.
