One of those gifts that keeps on giving is the partnership between filmmaker Mani Ratnam and music composer AR Rahman. The two have collaborated on several movies, including Roja, Kadal, and OK Kanmani. For Thug Life, they are working together once more. In an interview with India Today, Rahman discussed their creative process and explained how they share the common goal of 'serving the audience and the cinema'.
What Ratnam said about Rahman
"We feel the same even today! I discovered myself in the jingle business," Rahman stated during the conversation about his 20 years working with the filmmaker. He has witnessed my development. He was there when I lived in Chennai. He used to come to London for music while I was working on "Bombay Dreams." He has, however, seen and made comments on my virtual reality work, but he hasn't visited Bollywood.
Upon hearing comments on the music of Thug Life
He continued by saying, "Our relationship is to serve the audience and the cinema." We have that in common. Our desire to succeed is fueled by that shared objective. In reality, the last blending of Thug Life took place the day before yesterday. Additionally, he inquired as to whether we might give the music a somewhat forceful tone in a specific scenario. An hour prior to the engineer leaving the studio, we made adjustments after I went there. We enjoy that freedom.
A few days prior, in Chennai, the audio release of Thug Life took place. The album includes tracks such as Jinguchaa, Sugar Baby, Muththa Mazhai, and Vinveli Nayaga. Kamal Haasan, Simbu, and Trisha play significant parts in the gangster drama. It will be released in cinemas on June 5.
