The five main principles of ethnic menswear layering were covered in a thorough guide shared with an Lifestyle Magazine by Ravi Gupta, Creative Designer and Director of Gargee Designer's: 

1. Use organized layers to add depth

• Introduce a waistcoat, Nehru jacket, or Jodhpuri waistcoat to include form and texture.
• They straddle the boundary between modern and classic style.
• Over shirts or lightweight jackets in contrasting or complementary colors can provide depth without adding weight to the roughness.

2. Pay attention to the accessories

• The outfit will be transformed from practical to majestic by the addition of accessories. In addition to adding color, a handloom shawl, printed scarf, or silk pocket square also enhances personality.
• A woven scarf or exquisitely draped stole adds a touch of unquestionable royalty. Pair it with traditional juttis or contemporary loafers, depending on the occasion.

3. Provide the appropriate fit and ratio

• Customization works. Make sure all the layers drape well over the body without adding bulk.
• Verify the sleeve lengths and layering lines; a shorter outer layer might give a more modern, fashionable line.

4. Start with breathable basics

• Begin with a lighter foundation, such a loose linen shirt or a new cotton kurta. They will be simple to layer on, comfortable, and breathable.
• Because it's neutral, you can wear a white kurta during the day or at night, which makes it a great place to start.

5. Have fun with texture and color

• Although you can definitely utilize more neutral hues like ivory, navy, and beige, you can combine in other richer hues like gold, maroon, and emerald (or a little of each).
