The S90, Volvo India's premium sedan, is no longer being produced, the company has said. Only SUVs were left in the brand's Indian showcase because the Volvo S90 was the only sedan in the automaker's lineup. In India, the manufacturer had unveiled the redesigned variant of the S90.

The manufacturer is anticipated to introduce the EX30 shortly, following the withdrawal of the S90 from the lineup. Recently, the Volvo S90 received a facelift with contemporary changes to its interior and exterior.

The Design of the Volvo S90 Facelift

In accordance with the recent facelift of the XC90, which arrived to the Indian market, the newest S90 has a more attractive appearance than its predecessor. The SUV has a new front end with a bigger grille with angular chrome slats, while the headlights are now narrower and sharper, and include the distinctive Thor's Hammer LED DRLs, which use Matrix-design LED technology. In addition, the model has a redesigned front bumper and a new molded hood for a more contemporary appearance. New LED taillights on the rear have the same design as the front DRLs. The alloy wheels are now diamond-cut.

The powertrain of the Volvo S90 facelift

The new S90 is offered in a mild-hybrid version with a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, as well as a plug-in hybrid option with an electric-only range of 80 kilometers (WLTP). Volvo's own figures show that almost half of the distance covered by their newest plug-in hybrids has been on electric power alone, indicating the possibility of reduced emissions during regular driving. The precise details of the available engine options have not been disclosed by the firm.

Volvo S90 Facelift: Safety

The priority on safety is maintained, and the Pilot Assist system from Volvo is included in the S90. This encompasses automated braking, lane centering, and adaptive cruise control in low-traffic conditions. Consistent with the company's long-standing commitment to protecting passengers, the package also includes an active safety system and a reinforced safety cage.

Technology in the Volvo S90 Facelift

The Snapdragon Cockpit Platform drives Volvo's next-generation user interface in the S90. The system has an 11.2-inch center display with Google integrated and promises faster response times. It incorporates Google Maps and Google Assistant, and over-the-air software updates will enable future improvements without the need for dealership trips. Additionally, the redesigned digital driver display provides improved navigation aid.
