Toyota and Lexus Reveal Sneak Peek of GT and LFR Prototype Interiors at Goodwood
4 months ago | 5 Views
Toyota and Lexus gave lovers a sneak peek at what seems to be their upcoming flagship supercar at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Toyota GT Prototype, which was camouflaged, was seen next to its GT3-spec racing counterpart. Even though the formal name is still unknown, insiders and visual signals indicate that the manufacturing vehicle might eventually be unveiled as the Lexus LFR.
An initial glimpse inside
The first thorough view inside the cabin of the road-going prototype was captured by the official Goodwood live stream. The interior takes a motorsport-inspired approach, combining luxury features with performance materials. The layout is dominated by carbon-fibre racing-style bucket seats, which are more heavily padded than pure track versions. Red leather and Alcantara upholstery combine with aluminum accents to create a modern, purposeful atmosphere.
A large infotainment screen dominates the center of the vehicle, sitting above a row of actual buttons, highlighting the driver's interaction with modern technology.
Project developed over a long period
The creation of this new supercar has been going on for more than four years, according to the Toyota Gazoo Racing drivers. Contrary to common industry practice of hiding prototypes until their entire unveiling, Toyota and Lexus opted to provide an unusually open preview by displaying both street and racing variants at Goodwood.
The GR GT3 Concept, which previewed both automobiles in 2022, is anticipated to take the place of the Lexus RC F GT3 in competition, while the new road-going model is placed above the Lexus LC500..
Performance and engine expectations
Although technical details for Toyota and Lexus are not yet available, there are strong signals that both versions include a potent V8 engine. It is thought that this V8 is augmented by an electric motor and twin turbochargers, with a combined output that might reach over 800 horsepower.
This would be a significant improvement over the Lexus LFA's naturally aspirated V10, which generated 553 horsepower in 2012 and demonstrates how far performance standards have come.
Market positioning and design
Both models have a unique rear design in addition to an extended hood and a large front grille. The GT3-spec race car features a more aggressive aerodynamic package, including a big rear wing, whereas the street vehicle has four tailpipes and a modest lip spoiler.
This supercar is anticipated to compete with high-performance vehicles like the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S and Aston Martin Vantage when it goes into production. The Lexus LC500 will also represent a significant improvement in performance.
Launch schedule
The ultimate branding, whether under Lexus, Toyota, or Gazoo Racing, is still to be determined, but it is still known by the terms 'Toyota GT Prototype' and 'LFR'. The current data suggests a worldwide debut in either late 2025 or sometime in 2026.
