1. Performance and drivetrain

The new Land Cruiser Hybrid's powertrain is its most notable feature. It has a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine paired with an electric motor in a parallel hybrid setup. With 451 bhp and 790 Nm of torque, this combination is a significant improvement over the 3.3-liter diesel V6, which generates 304 bhp and 700 Nm. As a result, the hybrid model has a smoother power delivery and is also more potent. In line with the Land Cruiser's full-time 4WD arrangement, the hybrid system sends power to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2 A hybrid motor

The Land Cruiser 300 and the Lexus LX 700h, which share a platform, both use the same hybrid architecture. This setup is not entirely novel. In a parallel hybrid system, the engine is supported in enhancing fuel economy and performance, but pure electric driving is not possible. The hybrid system is anticipated to offer better mileage and fewer CO2 emissions than its diesel equivalent, which may be appealing in regions with stricter environmental regulations, even if official fuel efficiency data has not yet been made public.

Three improvements to the outside

The Land Cruiser Hybrid's exterior design is not significantly different from that of the standard model. To probably assist with heat management of the hybrid components, Toyota has added a bigger air intake to the front bumper. The vehicle also has HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) badging to help distinguish it from the outside. The GR Sport trim of the SUV has a more assertive front fascia, with a bigger grille and striking "Toyota" lettering. The design, though, stays mostly the same as the diesel model, save for these improvements.

4 Inside

With a few modifications, Toyota has maintained the majority of the arrangement and features inside the cabin. The digital instrument cluster has been upgraded to include hybrid-specific displays such power output, battery assist, and energy flow, while the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is now standard. A 1,500-watt power outlet in the boot is a new functional feature that Land Cruiser owners are finding more and more useful for powering tools or accessories while camping or overlanding.

5 India launch

The hybrid model's arrival in India would make strategic sense, even though Toyota has not made any formal announcements about it. Local pollution laws in cities like Delhi-NCR impose stricter restrictions on the lifespan of diesel vehicles; for instance, diesel-powered private vehicles must be de-registered after 10 years. These limitations might be avoided by using a petrol-hybrid option, which would still provide comparable long-distance travel. The Land Cruiser 300 diesel is now available ex-showroom for ₹2.31 crore (ZX) and ₹2.41 crore (GR Sport). A hybrid model, if priced competitively, might appeal to a small but expanding market of consumers seeking environmentally friendly full-size SUVs.
