A few of Tesla's new Model Y electric crossover vehicles have been recalled. As in the past, the carmaker has been known for addressing problems mostly through software upgrades. Software upgrades, however, are not an effective solution to the issue this time. Not long after the release of the redesigned Tesla Model Y, its first recall is already taking place. This issue has only affected 172 Tesla electric crossover units.

The redesigned Tesla EV, also known as the Model Y Juniper, has been discovered to have an issue with the way the wiper washer fluid is routed. The flaw consists of a blocked plastic elbow that prevents the wiper fluid from spraying. The problem has been traced to the faulty plastic elbow that helps direct windshield wiper fluid onto the windscreen itself. A mistake made by a Malaysian supplier is where the issue originated.

Although the issue isn't as serious as brakes malfunctioning, a body panel flying off, or suspension parts falling off, it's still significant. According to the recall documents, a dirty windshield can present a safety risk to the driver by obstructing their vision, and if they are unable to clean it, it may become a more serious problem.

According to Tesla, this flaw was discovered in mid-April, and the Model Y was inspected for the same problem as a result. The electric car maker was informed by the supplier that the fault in the questionable parts was caused by its failure to revalidate its tooling after doing a repair.

Tesla will address the problem by replacing the old, broken plastic elbow pieces with new, fully operational ones. Nevertheless, Tesla has stated that it is unaware of any accidents or occurrences linked to the matter.
