Suzuki e-Access Test Ride: A New Rival for TVS iQube?
6 months ago | 5 Views
Suzuki showcased its first electric two-wheeler at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The e-Access is the brand's first foray into the electric mobility segment. While the name of the new scooter is borrowed from the Access 125, the new electric scooter is not just an electric counterpart of the ICE version. There is a whole lot of new with the e-Access. Suzuki invited us to Bangalore, where we got to take a short test ride of the new electric scooter at a go-kart track. Here's our quick impressions of the new e-scooter.
Suzuki e-Access: Design

The e-Access does appear to be eye-catching and very contemporary, even if the design is subjective. The front has a thin LED headlamp and a vertically oriented LED daytime running light on the apron. The alloy wheels' design deserves a particular mention; they are likely the nicest alloy wheels available for any family scooter in the Indian market right now. The seat is rather lengthy, with a two-tone color pattern in the back, and the front apron is very steep. With wires visible everywhere, the scooter seems quite clean. In fact, the scooter's overall quality, including its paint and switchgear, is excellent. The three color choices are Pearl Grace White, Metallic Mat Bordeaux Red, and Metallic Fibroin Gray.
Suzuki e-Access: Performance

A belt-drive system is used by the electric motor that is in use to deliver the force to the rear wheel. It produces a maximum power of 5.49 bhp and a maximum torque of 15 Nm. Although the acceleration is rapid, you would need to plan ahead if you needed to pass someone quickly. If you ride calmly, the performance should be sufficient for everyday city trips. It would have been good if the scooter had performed a little bit better. The way the throttle response has been tuned is the most noteworthy aspect of the e-Access.
The scooter has three riding modes: Eco, Ride A, and Ride B. There is a special button for changing the riding mode, but switching between Ride A and Ride B requires the scooter to come to a complete stop, which seems a little excessive.
The scooter's maximum speed is restricted to 55 kmph in Eco mode. The maximum speed in Ride mode A is 71 kmph with regenerative braking set to 2 kW, while in Ride mode B, the regenerative braking is 1 kW, but the maximum speed remains the same. Another crucial point is that the scooter automatically stops due to the regen, which is also well-tuned. It does not startle the rider and is not jerky.
Suzuki e-Access: Battery, range, and charging times
The claimed range of the Suzuki's 3.072 kWh battery pack is 95 km. The battery pack is stationary and made of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP). We are now unsure of the claimed range, whether it applies to the Eco or Ride A/B modes, and we are unsure of the scooter's actual range in the real world. It would have been good if the reported range had exceeded 100 km.
Suzuki uses its own exclusive Connector for charging. It takes 4 hours and 30 minutes for the portable AC charger to charge from 0 to 80 percent, while 6 hours and 42 minutes are needed to fully charge from 0 to 100 percent. The e-Access also supports DC rapid charging, which takes 1 hour 12 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 percent, but 2 hours 12 minutes to charge from 0 to 100 percent. The charging times are contingent upon a variety of variables, such as the ambient temperature, which was 25 degrees for the aforementioned times, but Suzuki has not disclosed the speed of the DC and AC charging.
Suzuki e-Access: Handling and riding
Since we were riding the scooter on a go-kart course, we couldn't fully assess the suspension. However, the scooter handled and absorbed the bumps well on the rumble strips that Suzuki laid out for us. The e-Access did surprise us a bit in terms of how it handled. It is also rather lightweight and responsive to rider signals. This means managing the scooter whether you're driving or maneuvering it around the parking area. Additionally, the battery pack's location contributes to the scooter's performance in this regard. The brakes come next. The rear one has excellent grip, but I thought the front one might have used a bit more feel and progression, as well as bite.
Characteristics of the Suzuki e-Access
The e-Access has an underseat storage that should hold the charger that comes with the bag. A multi-function starter knob that can open the seat, turn on the scooter, and open the charging flap is also included, along with a USB port and a cubby space. One of the superior keyless systems I have seen also includes answer-back capability, which Suzuki is also providing. In addition to these features, the vehicle has a tip-over sensor, a back brake lock, and two utility hooks. The two features I would like to highlight are the seat stopper, which keeps the seat in place and eliminates the need for the user to support it. The second aspect is the design of the floorboard and the back of the front apron, which includes a specific area for the rider to extend their legs.
The rider has access to a TFT LCD screen with day and night modes and smartphone connection via the Suzuki Ride Connect App. The speedometer, battery level, odometer, clock, voltmeter, average and current energy use, and riding mode are all displayed on the instrument cluster.
Verdict on Suzuki e-Access
Although we had less time with the new Suzuki e-Access, we were most struck by the build quality and throttle calibration. The scooter might use a little bit more pep in its performance, but it should suffice for daily city tasks. Ultimately, everything comes down to the cost of the e-Access. Suzuki will be able to compete with other electric scooters for commuter families in the market if it is able to price it competitively.
