Although Renault has been a participant in the Indian passenger vehicle market for a while and has been the subject of conjecture, it has not yet entered the nation's electric car industry. Although the French automaker is thought to be considering introducing its Kwid EV to the nation for a long period, the idea has not yet come to pass. The introduction of the compact electric vehicle, which would compete with the MG Comet EV and Tata Tiago EV in India, appears to be not far off, though, as the new-generation Renault Kwid EV is now being tested in Brazil.

Prior to its launch in Brazil, the next-generation Renault Kwid EV has been seen undergoing testing without any camouflage. This very vehicle has been seen undergoing testing in India on several occasions, which is interesting. The EV is now anticipated to arrive in India around 2026 since the Brazilian market is prepared to accept it. Nonetheless, Renault has made no formal announcement.

A rebadged version of the Dacia Spring EV, the Renault Kwid EV, has been seen undergoing testing in the Latin American market. The outside architecture is the same. Notably, the design of the Renault Kwid EV is very unlike that of the Kwid, which is now available in India with a gasoline engine. The design approach is more aligned with the current Renault models that have been released on the international market. The front view is more aggressive and resembles the forthcoming new generation Duster. LED daytime running lights and LED headlights are just a few of the features of the striking face, which also has a strong bumper. A delta-shaped taillight is located in the rear and is joined by a thick black stripe, while the bumper has a strong black cladding.

Although the inside has not been seen, the cabin layout, features, and powertrain specs are likely to be similar to the Dacia Spring EV. The Dacia electric vehicle includes features such as traffic sign recognition, lane watch help, automated temperature management, dual digital screens, and more. Nonetheless, some of these features might not be present in the Kwid EV produced for the Indian market.

The electric hatchback is powered by a 26.8 kWh battery pack that claims a range of up to 305 km on a single charge. The electric engine in the front axle can produce maximum torque of 125 Nm and peak power of 65 bhp.
