The BMW iX3, which will soon be revealed at the IAA Mobility Show 2025 in Germany this September, will be the first SUV in the company's 'Neue Klasse' line. Prior to its major unveiling, BMW has disclosed additional information about the forthcoming fully electric product, such as the powertrain, range, and electronic assistance, as well as pictures of the pre-production prototypes that are in the last phase of testing. The iX3, which is the equivalent of the BMW X3, will have a wholly new design language.

The 'Neue Klasse' iX3 will have the sixth-generation powertrain, according to BMW, and it promises a WLTP range of 800 km. The car manufacturer has not disclosed the battery sizes yet. The batteries will, however, utilize cylindrical battery cells with an energy density 20% higher than that of the prismatic cells that were formerly used, the manufacturer disclosed. In addition, the SUV will include an "intelligent charging flap" that will open automatically when it detects that the owner plans to charge it. When the charger is unplugged, the SUV will also turn off by itself. Additionally, the automobile has AI integration, which allows it to understand when to open the port depending on the site and the owner's tastes.

The next-generation BMW iX3 will also enable bi-directional charging, including Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) up to 3.7 kW, as well as Vehicle-to-Grid through a new bi-directional 19.2 kW DC wallbox charger.
