A New Chapter in Luxury EVs
Mercedes-Benz has raised the bar for electric mobility with the unveiling of the all-new GLC EV at the Munich Motor Show 2025. Set to enter global markets in the first half of 2026, the premium mid-size electric SUV combines futuristic technology, elegant design, long-range efficiency and uncompromised comfort. With its record-breaking 713km driving range and groundbreaking innovations, the GLC EV is positioned to be a true game-changer in the growing EV segment.
Record-Breaking Range and Power Options
At the heart of the GLC EV lies the advanced MB.EA platform, designed specifically for electric-first vehicles. Customers will initially be offered two powertrain configurations: the rear-wheel-drive GLC 300+ and the all-wheel-drive GLC 400 4MATIC. While the GLC 300+ delivers 374bhp, the more powerful GLC 400 produces an impressive 489bhp. Both models are equipped with a 94kWh battery, supporting ultra-fast DC charging up to 330kW. Notably, the GLC 400 achieves up to 713km of range on the WLTP cycle, making it the longest-range electric SUV ever from Mercedes-Benz.
Charging is designed for real-world convenience as well, allowing 10–80% top-up in just 24 minutes. Even a short 10-minute charge can extend driving by over 300km, setting new benchmarks for travel flexibility.
Design Innovation with an Illuminated Grille
The GLC EV is not just about performance—it’s also about making a head-turning statement. At the front, Mercedes introduces an illuminated panel featuring 942 glowing dots around the signature star emblem. The aerodynamics are equally impressive, with a drag coefficient of just 0.26, ensuring sleek looks and enhanced efficiency. Customers can choose between standard 20-inch or larger 21-inch alloy wheels, while the star-shaped LED detailing in the headlights and taillights gives the SUV a distinct visual identity.
Futuristic Cabin with the 39-Inch Hyperscreen
Stepping inside reveals what could be the most futuristic SUV interior yet. The cabin is dominated by a curved 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, merging the driver display, infotainment and passenger screen into a single panel. Running on Mercedes’ next-generation MB.OS platform, it provides AI-driven personalisation, cloud-based apps, seamless over-the-air updates, video streaming and immediate access to entertainment services such as Disney+.
Balancing technology and practicality, Mercedes has reintroduced physical rocker switches and roller controls for essential functions like cruise control and volume, ensuring enhanced comfort for daily use. An exclusive Vegan Interior Package, certified by The Vegan Society, also gives environmentally conscious buyers a cruelty-free luxury option.
Space, Comfort and Efficiency
The GLC EV offers generous cabin proportions with improved rear legroom and headroom compared to its combustion counterpart. Boot space is equally versatile, with a 570-litre capacity that expands up to 1,740 litres, plus an additional 128-litre frunk. For ride and handling, the SUV borrows advanced S-Class technology, such as adaptive air suspension and rear-axle steering, ensuring agility despite its size. A new heat pump optimises winter driving efficiency while regenerative braking up to 300kW recovers significant energy on the go.
Smart Assistance and Charging Innovations
The SUV debuts MB.DRIVE, a cutting-edge driver assistance package with up to 10 cameras, 5 radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors for semi-autonomous functions. Features like predictive braking, cooperative steering and OTA-enabled upgrades make the GLC EV future-ready. Additionally, with MB.CHARGE, owners can reserve public charging spots in advance—another industry-first feature. Bidirectional charging support (V2H and V2G) enables the SUV to power homes and even supply electricity back to the grid.
With its world-class range, high-tech cabin, enhanced comfort, and advanced charging ecosystem, the Mercedes-Benz GLC EV is not just another electric SUV—it is a luxury flagship aimed at setting industry standards. As Mercedes prepares for its 2026 launch, this model is poised to challenge established competitors while shaping the future of premium electric mobility.
