Maruti Suzuki Dzire Crash Tests: Bharat NCAP vs Global NCAP—What Sets Them Apart?
5 months ago | 5 Views
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire sub-compact sedan has recently earned a five-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test. With this, the Dzire joined the Tata Nexon as the only other vehicle in India to have undergone crash testing by both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. Interestingly, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, like the Tata Nexon, has received a five-star safety rating in both the Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP crash tests.
Although the Maruti Suzuki Dzire received five stars in both the BNCAP and GNCAP crash tests, there are small variations. Although the Maruti Suzuki Dzire received a five-star rating in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category of both the Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP crash tests, the points it earned in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category varied.
Here's a brief comparison of the scores and ratings for the Maruti Suzuki Dzire as provided by Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Bharat NCAP Crash Test Results
During the frontal offset deformable barrier test at the Bharat NCAP crash test, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire sub-compact sedan provided excellent protection for the driver's head, neck, pelvis, thighs, and feet. The front passenger's head, neck, thighs, and left tibia were also well protected in the same test. The driver’s chest protection was rated as marginal, and the tibia protection was rated as sufficient. BNCAP rated the protection of the front passenger's chest and right tibia as satisfactory.
During the side movable deformable barrier test, the head, torso, and abdomen received excellent protection, but the chest only received adequate protection. In the side pole impact test, though, the driver received excellent protection all over.
The sedan received a dynamic score of 23.57 out of 24 points from Bharat NCAP in the COP subcategory. The three-year-old dummy received a perfect score of 4 out of 4 points for side protection and 7.57 out of 8 points in its frontal collision test, while the new Dzire earned full marks for the 18-month-old dummy's front and side protection.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Global NCAP collision test outcome
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was evaluated at the Global NCAP crash test and found to provide excellent protection for the head, neck, and thighs of the driver and front passenger during the frontal offset deformable barrier test. The driver's feet were well protected, and the tibia protection for both front occupants was deemed sufficient. The front passenger was deemed to have received adequate protection, while the driver’s chest only received slight protect
In the side movable deformable barrier test, the driver received excellent protection all over their body; however, in the side pole impact test, the chest was only marginally protected, while the other areas were well protected.
Both the 18-month-old and three-year-old dummies earned perfect scores in the front and side impact tests of the COP at Global NCAP. In the frontal impact test, the dummy's head and chest received complete protection from the three-year-old's child restraint system (CRS), but the neck only received limited protection. However, like the front and side impact tests of the 18-month-old dummy, all components were completely protected during the side impact tests.
Bharat NCAP vs. Global NCAP: Variations in Test Outcomes
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire had similar performance in both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP frontal offset deformable barrier tests. The sole variation was that the front occupant's left tibia was protected, which was rated as having adequate protection in the GNCAP test but good protection in the BNCAP test. There was a notable contrast in the side pole impact test results. The Dzire received good protection for all other areas of the driver’s body and marginal protection for the chest during the GNCAP test. The driver received excellent protection in all areas during the BNCAP test.
