MG M9 vs Kia Carnival: The Ultimate Chauffeur Experience
5 months ago | 5 Views
The MG M9, a luxury all-electric MPV, is set to debut in India soon, according to MG Motor. The next model, known worldwide as the MIFA 9, will compete directly with the Kia Carnival in a small number of big MPVs in the nation. The M9 and Carnival are likely to appeal to a similar target market, even if the Toyota Vellfire is in a higher price range. The Carnival and M9 are compared on paper in this article.
Kia Carnival vs. MG M9: Size Comparison
The MG M9's wheelbase is 3,200 mm, and its overall dimensions are 5,200 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,840 mm in height. With dimensions of 5,155 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, 1,775 mm in height, and a 3,090 mm wheelbase, the Kia Carnival is only marginally smaller.
The M9 has a somewhat larger cabin area on paper because of its bigger footprint and longer wheelbase. The M9 features 19-inch wheels, while the Carnival has 18-inch wheels, but both vehicles have alloy wheels with multiple spokes.
Specs for the Kia Carnival versus the MG M9
A 90 kWh lithium-ion battery that is paired with a single front-mounted electric engine that generates 245 bhp and 350 Nm of torque powers the MG M9. Although the stated WLTP range is 430 kilometers, actual range may differ depending on the conditions in India.
In contrast, the Kia Carnival has an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 190 horsepower and 441 Nm. Both automobiles have front-wheel drive.
The two models meet various user needs because of the difference in fuel kinds: diesel versus electricity. Buyers looking for fuel efficiency and long-distance usability may find the Carnival suitable, but the M9 provides a different option in the electric market.
Features of the Kia Carnival vs. the MG M9
With amenities like three-zone climate control and second-row ottoman seats with heating, cooling, and massage capabilities—all accessible via a touchscreen on the armrest—the MG M9 prioritizes rear-seat comfort. Additionally, the rear passengers benefit from individual entertainment screens and a dual-pane Chamois-covered sunroof, which enhances the sensation of space.
The cabin features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch digital instrument panel, and touch-sensitive HVAC controls in the front. Cupholders, a wireless charger, and storage are all located on the floating center console. The front seats are both electrically adjustable and include ventilation and four-way lumbar support.
On the safety front, the M9 is equipped with seven airbags, ABS, ESP with auto hold, TPMS, and a comprehensive ADAS suite that includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, speed assist, and a 360-degree camera system. While Bharat NCAP results are pending, the model has secured a five-star rating from Euro NCAP and ANCAP.
The Kia Carnival is also well-equipped, offering powered seats (without massage), ADAS, tri-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and rear-seat entertainment, though with a smaller sunroof configuration. Both models support 7-seat layouts, and the M9 also offers an 8-seater option globally, though local availability remains unconfirmed.
MG M9 vs Kia Carnival: Price
The Kia Carnival is priced at ₹63.9 lakh (ex-showroom) currently. MG has not released the official price of the M9, although estimates put it around a starting price of ₹65 lakh. Pre-orders for the MG M9 have commenced, with official launch in July 2025.
