Honda Activa e Introduces Budget-Friendly Battery Rental at ₹678 Per Month

Honda Activa e Introduces Budget-Friendly Battery Rental at ₹678 Per Month

5 months ago | 5 Views

The new, less expensive battery rental scheme for the Activa e electric scooter has been unveiled by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI). The cost of the new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) Lite plan will be ₹678 per month (+ GST), but it will only provide 20 kWh. As a result, the BaaS plan is far less expensive than the ones that were initially introduced.

The cost of the Honda Activa e BaaS plan has decreased

Previously, Honda had unveiled the BaaS plans, which included the Basic Plan, which cost ₹1,999 and provided up to 35 kWh per month, as well as the Advance Plan, which cost ₹3,599 and offered up to 82 kWh per month. The Activa e, which has replaceable batteries, is the only platform that supports the BaaS programs. The battery swapping stations are owned and run by Honda Motor Company, Japan, through its Indian subsidiary, Honda Power Pack Energy India.

The switch also occurs because Honda's first BaaS plans were considered too costly. It should be mentioned that the cost of the electric scooter does not include the BaaS schemes. The base model of the Honda Activa e costs ₹1.17 lakh, while the top-of-the-line model costs ₹1.51 lakh (ex-showroom). In our assessment, we also highlighted that the ownership expenses of the Activa e did not result in any savings, which is the main factor for many purchasers of electric scooters.

A Breakdown of the BaaS Packs for the Honda Activa e

With a claimed range of 102 km on a full charge, the Honda Activa e has two 1.5 kWh swappable battery packs. But the entire usage of the BaaS packages has some restrictions for Honda. With a mileage of 30 km/kWh, the Lite plan costs ₹678 and covers 600 km per month. The cost will be ₹70 per kWh when the user reaches the 20 kWh threshold.

The Basic Plan costs ₹1,999 and offers the same mileage—30 km/kWh—as 1,040 km per month. The manufacturer will charge ₹35 for each kWh once the 35 kWh barrier has been broken. With a mileage of 30 km/kWh, the Advance Plan is priced at ₹3,599 and is comparable to ₹2,600 km each month. The client will be charged ₹35 for each kWh over the 87 kWh threshold. All costs are before GST.
