Hero MotoCorp Sees May Sales Rebound, Annual Growth Stays Modest at 1.9%

In a regulatory statement, Hero MotoCorp stated that its retail sales in May 2025 totaled 5.08 lakh units across motorcycles and scooters. The company has regained its month-over-month (MoM) sales from the previous month as compared to April of this year. The brand's year-over-year sales, however, continued to be modest, increasing by only 2%.
In May 2025, Hero MotoCorp said that it shipped 5.08 lakh motorcycles and scooters, bouncing back from April's manufacturing interruptions. The May sales numbers represent a 66% month over month increase from April's 3.05 lakh units, when Hero MotoCorp was forced to temporarily shut down manufacturing at four sites for three days in order to perform maintenance and realign its supply chain. The OEM's year-over-year sales increase was nevertheless just 1.9% last month, which is little when compared to the 4.98 lakh units sold in May 2024.
According to Hero MotoCorp, its two-wheeler sales in May 2025 totaled 507,701 units, up from 498,123 units in the same month of the previous year. During the first two months of this fiscal year, the firm sold 813,107 two-wheelers, a decrease from the 1,031,708 units it sold during the same time the previous year. Last month, the homegrown two-wheeler behemoth sold 475,164 bikes, an increase from 471,186 units, while in the April-May period of this year, it sold 761,253 motorcycles, a decrease from 967,728 units recorded in the same period a year ago.
Hero MotoCorp recorded 32,537 units in the scooter sector in May 2025, a significant increase from the 26,937 units it recorded in the same month the previous year. In contrast, the company sold 51,854 scooters between April and May of this year, which is a decrease from the 63,980 units it sold during the same time last year.
Last month, Hero MotoCorp recorded 8,361 shipments in the electric two-wheeler industry, where it owns the specialized Vida brand. Additionally, 7,161 people signed up for the Vida V2 electric scooters. According to Vahan statistics, Vida has a market share of 7.2%. At the same time, Vida is preparing for the introduction of a new product on July 1, 2025.
