The Toyota Fortuner Neo Drive 48V models have been released. The prices for the two models, Fortuner Neo Drive 48V and Legender Neo Drive 48V, are 44.72 lakh and 50.09 lakh rupees, respectively. Maruti Suzuki's local sales are down, but exports are still increasing.

With domestic sales of 135,962 units in May 2025, Maruti Suzuki India is the top automaker in India. In contrast, the manufacturer's exports increased by 79.7% during the month, with 31,219 units shipped abroad compared to 17,367 during the same time the previous year. From 78,838 units in May 2024 to 68,736 units in May 2025, the passenger vehicle segment for the manufacturer, which includes models like the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Swift, Dzire, Ciaz, and others, saw a 12.81 percent YoY decrease, continuing the trend. In contrast, the utility vehicle sector, which features vehicles like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, and others, experienced a modest increase of 1.2% year-over-year, from 54,204 units in May 2024 to 54,899 units in the same month in 2025.

Mahindra defeated Tata Motors for the second month in a row with its Thar, Scorpio N, XEV 9e, and BE 6 push.

In the passenger vehicle sales ranking for May 2025, Mahindra has surpassed Tata Motors, its domestic archrival. According to its regulatory filing, Mahindra sold 52,431 passenger automobiles in the Indian market, compared to Tata Motors' 41,557 units, which were reported last month. As in April of this year, when Mahindra, the producer of well-known models like the Thar, Scorpio N, etc., sold 52,330 units against Tata, the maker of the Nexon, Punch, and other models, which only sold 45,199 units, this was the second consecutive month that Mahindra outsold Tata.

With better market circumstances, Honda Cars India hopes to recover from a decline in sales in May.

According to Honda Cars India Ltd., the company sold 5,985 automobiles in May 2025, with 3,950 units sold in the domestic market and 2,035 units sold in foreign markets. The numbers show that Honda is taking a cautious stance on supply and distribution in the present market situation. In May, it's important to remember that Honda's sales data for May 2025 are lower than those for the same period last year. In May 2024, Honda Cars India sold 4,822 vehicles in the domestic market and 6,521 in the international market, reflecting Honda's annual declines in both markets.

The Windsor Pro helped MG see a 40% increase in sales in May.

The joint venture between the JSW Group and SAIC Motor, JSW MG Motor India, announced on Sunday a 40% YoY increase in sales of its passenger vehicles. In contrast to the 4,510 units sold in May 2024, the car manufacturer has sold 6,304 units of passenger vehicles in May 2025. The introduction of Windsor Pro, a long-range variant of the MG Windsor EV, contributed to this sales increase.

Despite regaining sales in May, Hero MotoCorp's yearly growth is still only 1.9%.

According to a regulatory submission made by Hero MotoCorp, it sold 5.08 lakh motorcycles and scooters at retail in May 2025. As a result, the company has regained its month-on-month (MoM) sales for the previous month in comparison to April of this year. The brand's year-on-year (YoY) sales figures, however, remained low, increasing by just two percent. After suffering from production issues in April, Hero MotoCorp has reported that it sold 5.08 lakh motorcycles and scooters in May 2025. The May sales results represented a 66% MoM increase from April, when Hero MotoCorp was obliged to momentarily shut down operations at four facilities for three days in order to do maintenance and realign its supply chain. Nonetheless, the OEM's YoY sales growth last month remained modest at 1.9% as compared to May 2024, when there were 4.98 lakh units sold.

The 16% rise in TVS sales in May was aided by the Apache motorcycles and iQube.

According to a regulatory filing made by TVS Motor Company, sales of its two-wheelers increased by 16% in May 2025. The indigenous two-wheeler giant sold 416,166 units in May 2025, up from 359,590 units in the same month of the previous year. According to TVS, domestic two-wheeler sales have increased by 14% year-on-year, with sales rising from 271,140 units in May last year to 309,287 units in the same month of this year.
