₹21.5 Lakh EV SUVs: Tata Harrier EV or Hyundai Creta Electric?
5 months ago | 5 Views
India's electric SUV market is becoming more and more competitive, particularly in the ₹21–22 lakh range. The Hyundai Creta Electric Smart (O) Long Range trim and the Tata Harrier EV Adventure model are two noteworthy options at this price range. These two EVs are priced similarly up front, but they cater to very different wants. Let's compare them in terms of size, performance, amenities, and overall worth.
Comparing the dimensions of the Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Harrier EV
In every aspect, the Tata Harrier EV is much larger than the Hyundai Creta Electric. The standing posture is 85 mm higher, 132 mm wider, and 267 mm longer. The 2,741 mm wheelbase is significantly longer than the Creta's 2,610 mm, which suggests that there will be more room in the rear seats.
Tata also has a huge 502-liter boot and a segment-leading 67-liter frunk, whereas the Creta has a 433-liter boot and a 22-liter front storage space. The Harrier EV is a larger, more robust SUV that is more practical for driving on the road or for family use.
Hyundai Creta Electric vs. Tata Harrier EV: Specifications
The Harrier EV has a bigger 65 kWh battery and a rear-wheel drive system that generates 235 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque under the hood, or more accurately, under the floor. According to the MIDC, the range is 538 kilometers.
In contrast, the Creta Electric's 51.4 kWh battery, front-wheel drive, and 169 bhp output seem more conventional. Its claimed range is a little less—473 kilometers. The Harrier EV offers more performance and endurance than other electric vehicles, which is evident to fans and frequent highway users.
Hyundai Creta Electric versus Tata Harrier EV: Features
Although both SUVs provide a comprehensive package, their priorities are somewhat different. The Hyundai Creta Electric Smart (O) places a greater emphasis on technology and cabin comfort, while the Tata Harrier EV Adventure is more practical and adaptable.
The Harrier EV includes integrated side steps, bigger 18-inch alloys, connected LED taillamps, and projector LED headlights. It has leatherette seats inside, an 8-way power driver's seat, a 4-way power co-driver's seat, and a variety of special amenities including multi-terrain drive modes, drift mode, V2V charging, and V2L, all of which will entice purchasers seeking a more capable and adventure-ready electric vehicle.
On the other hand, the Creta Electric adds a touch of luxury with rear seat sunshades, dual-zone auto AC, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, 8-speaker Bose system, and wireless phone charging. However, it makes do with fabric upholstery and slightly less rugged credentials.
Safety-wise, both receive six airbags, ESC, hill descent control, TPMS, and disc brakes across the board. But the Creta Electric has an advantage with ADAS features, front and rear park sensors, and auto headlamps, providing an upgraded driver assistance package.
Tata Harrier EV vs Hyundai Creta Electric: Price
At ₹21.49 lakh for the Tata Harrier EV Adventure and ₹21.50 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Hyundai Creta Electric Smart (O) Long Range, the two electric SUVs are virtually identical in pricing. That being said, what you get for this money comes in very different shapes and for very different reasons.
The Harrier EV is the better choice if you are looking for a larger, tougher SUV, with a strong road presence, more power, a longer range, and extra versatility with things like multi-terrain modes and vehicle-to-load. It is more aimed at buyers who care about performance and like a bit of off-road ability from time to time.
The Creta Electric is focused on a premium urban experience, and will appeal more to the tech-savvy city consumers wanting extra comfort, convenience and safety tech rather than size and power. It also has features like a panoramic sunroof, an ADAS suite, ambient lighting, and nicer infotainment systems.
