CID is one of the longest-running Indian television series, and it was revived for a second season in December 2024 in response to overwhelming fan demand after a lengthy six-year hiatus. CID 2, which can be streamed on SonyLIV and SonyTV, has been performing well until the recent announcement regarding the unexpected departure of Shivaji Satam's beloved character, ACP Pradyuman. For many CID enthusiasts, ACP Pradyuman represented more than just a role; he embodied a deep emotional connection. In a recent interview, Inspectors Daya and Abhijeet (played by Dayanand Shetty and Aditya Srivastava) expressed their heartfelt sentiments about the news, stating that they will profoundly miss their ACP Saab.

During In a recent interview with Telly Chakkar, Dayanand Shetty and Aditya Srivastava shared their thoughts on Shivaji Satam's unexpected departure from CID 2. The trio has collaborated on the show for over two decades, earning a reputation as the iconic trio of CID.

In response to the news, Dayanand, known as Daya, expressed, "The way ACP Saab managed every situation and his vibrant personality on set will be profoundly missed. We will truly miss our ACP Saab, who served as a father figure to all of us. At this moment, we feel a sense of loss. However, the show must continue." He also acknowledged the prevailing sadness but conveyed their excitement for the new young ACP Ayushmann, portrayed by Parth Samthaan.

Discussing their relationship with ACP Pradyuman, Daya remarked, "We could interpret his thoughts just by observing his expressions, understanding what he intended to convey, and we would act accordingly. The dynamic with the new ACP, who is younger than us and will be issuing commands, will certainly add an intriguing element to the forthcoming episodes." He also mentioned that fans might appreciate the age gap and the way they navigate this new scenario, but he acknowledged that they will undoubtedly miss their original ACP Pradyuman.

Conversely, Aditya expressed that this news is a significant shock for the CID team. "We are still in disbelief. It feels as though Sir is still present, ready to give orders that we would follow. It feels like an earthquake," he stated. He confessed that they were unaware of ACP Pradyuman's departure from the series.

Aditya further noted that their rapport with the new ACP will gradually evolve, allowing them to become acquainted and reach a mutual understanding over time.

In addition, ACP Pradyuman, portrayed by Shivaji Satam, has left the show after more than two decades, following the confirmation of his character's demise by the producers.

Meanwhile, CID 2 is broadcast every Saturday and Sunday at 10 p.m. on Sony TV and SonyLIV. It is also available for viewing with an OTTplay Premium subscription.

Parth Samthaan on joining CID 2 as ACP Ayushmann

In the meantime, Parth Samthaan, who has taken over the role of ACP Ayushmann from Shivaji Satam's ACP Pradyuman, expressed in an interview that assuming this role comes with significant responsibility. He is optimistic about advancing the storyline with new elements of excitement and suspense. "This is a cross-collaboration for me, and I am genuinely pleased to be involved in such a legendary show," he remarked.
