In light of rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, India's cricketing legend Virat Kohli sent a strong message of support for the Indian Armed Forces. The ongoing conflict has led to missile strikes, air raid alerts, and increased military activities across the Line of Control, as well as in various bordering Indian cities, creating widespread security fears, which also affected the IPL 2025, as the tournament was halted on Friday.

On Instagram, Kohli stated, “We stand in solidarity with, and salute our armed forces for fiercely protecting our country in these difficult times. We are forever indebted to our heroes for their unwavering bravery and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifices they and their families make for our great nation. ”

Kohli's statement follows Pakistan's assault on several cities across the border, including Jammu and Pathankot, along with areas in Punjab and Rajasthan. However, the Indian Armed Forces effectively thwarted Pakistan's attacks with remarkable success.

The halt of IPL 2025, after the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was halted midway on Thursday, underscores the seriousness of the situation. Security fears prompted the evacuation of players from the stadium, as air raid alerts sounded in surrounding areas like Jammu and Pathankot.

The match, which was intended to determine if Punjab Kings would be the first team to secure a playoff spot, was abandoned without any alterations in the IPL points table.

The BCCI continues to engage with government officials regarding the developing situation. With over a dozen league matches and the knockout rounds still to occur, the suspension of the IPL has left many questioning whether the remaining games will be rescheduled or conducted in a neutral venue once the security scenario improves.

Earlier in the day, Kohli’s sentiments were mirrored by fellow teammate and India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma, who also conveyed pride in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, urging the public to avoid spreading misinformation and to remain united in support of the country.
