Inimel song video, the highly anticipated album which is conceptualised and composed by actress-singer Shruti Haasan, is finally out. Lokesh Kanagaraj, the renowned filmmaker who is best known for his blockbuster outings in Tamil cinema, has made his acting debut with the Inimel song video, which has now created quite a stir on social media. However, Shruti and Lokesh’s romantic album is now receiving mixed responses from the audience.

Inimel - Lokesh Kanagaraj is miscast Shruti Haasan’s song video

The Inimel song video, which revolves around a young couple’s journey from dating to marriage and later divorce, impresses with its concept and is visually stunning. Shruti Haasan, the multi-faceted talent has also made a mark with her catchy composition, and soulful rendition. The meaningful lyrics penned by Kamal Haasan, have made the Inimel song much more than just a romantic melody. Shruti also looks impressive as a young woman who goes through the highs and lows of romance.

However, director Lokesh Kanagaraj is indeed miscast in the song as a young man who falls in love with a beautiful woman even though he knows that they are drastically different people. The Vikram director shows potential at certain moments in the song video. But his almost non-existent chemistry with leading lady Shruti Haasan makes it difficult for the audience to root for the couple, or even take them seriously.

Lokesh fails to convey the inner turmoil of his character and looks quite uncomfortable in romantic scenes, even while emoting anger and sadness. The director, who kickstarted his journey as an actor with a cameo in Master movie (which was more interesting, by the way), marked his first solo outing as an actor with the Inimel song video. If Lokesh Kanagaraj is planning to pursue a career in acting, he will have to work hard on getting out of his calm demeanor and work on his expressions and body language, a lot.
