On April 19, Taylor Swift released her new album, 'The Tortured Poets Department', following its announcement at the 2024 Grammy Awards. However, she surprise-released a 15-track expansion of the album, dubbed 'The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology'. "I've written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you," she wrote on social media.

"The Tortured Poets Department is a secret DOUBLE album…here's the second instalment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs," she added. So instead of the originally announced 16 songs, she has now released a total of 31 new tracks in one album. This news has got the fandom BLINKs speaking about the number of songs an artist can release in just one album, while another in 7 years could not do the same.

Who are BLINKs? They are the fans of the girl group BLACKPINK, and Taylor Swift's new album has only sparked a debate online, showcasing just how limited their favourite's discography is. Since their debut in 2016, BLACKPINK has only released a total of 32 songs, just one more than the 'The Tortured Poet's Department' tracklist.

About BLACKPINK songs and albums:

During their seven-year career, the four women — Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa — who made their debut under YG Entertainment—only put out two complete albums: "The Album" (2020), which had eight tracks, and "BORN PINK" (2022), which had the same amount of tracks.

"Kill This Love" (2019) has five tracks, and "Square Up" (2018) has four. These are two of their mini albums. The promotional track "The Girls" was made available in August 2023. Each member has a solo song in between all of this. In the meantime, Taylor Swift has so far put out approximately 300 tracks.

Is BLACKPINK releaseing new music?

The members of the group have renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment, but only for group activities. For their solo endeavours, they have all decided to part ways with the agency. Leaving Rosé aside, the remaining three members have opened up their labels.

Jennie established 'ODD ATELIER', and later Lisa announced her own company, 'LLOUD'. Jisoo also became a CEO, and the idol actress launched her label called 'BLISSOO' for her solo promotions.

While there is no news about new music as a group, the idols are busy preparing their songs, endorsing fashion brands, and appearing on variety shows for their solo work.
