Thuppakki

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Thuppakki is an action drama about a military man who comes back home for a vacation to spend time with his family in Mumbai. However, as he senses something is not right and an organised terrorist activity is taking place in the city, the protagonist takes it up on himself to save the day. Actors Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyan, Vidyut Jammwal, Jayaram, Manobala and Zakir Hussain, among others, star in this film, which was a commercial success.

Pokkiri

Pokkiri is a remake of the 2006 Telugu film Pokiri. Directed by Prabhudheva, Pokkiri stars Asin, Vadivelu, Prakash Raj, Nassar and others. A commercially successful film, Pokkiri is about a criminal with rogue behaviour who executes tasks for money. While he falls in love with a girl, there is also a secret identity that the hero possesses for an operation he is carrying out in secrecy.

Priyamanavale

Priyamanavale was released in 2000 and is a romantic drama starring Vijay and Simran in the lead roles. The film is written and directed by K Selva Bharathy. Priyamanavale is about two people from different belief systems who marry each other. The NRI husband, played by Vijay, does not uphold Indian cultural values and views marriage as an agreement, while the wife (Simran) respects the idea of marriage and commitment. The rest of the film is how and if they stay together for good. The film is a remake of Telugu film Pavithra Bandham.

Kaavalan

Kaavalan is directed by Siddique and stars Vijay and Asin in the lead roles. A remake of Malayalam film Bodyguard, it is about a man who is employed by a rich family to serve as a bodyguard to a girl. However, in what starts as a prank, the girl begins talking under the guise of anonymous caller, which later turns into both of them falling in love. Mithra Kurian, Rajkiran, Roja Selvamani and Vadivelu play supporting roles in the film.

Shahjahan

Shahjahan stars Vijay, Richa Pallod, Krishna, Kovai Sarala, Vivekh and others. A romantic drama directed by Ravi, the film is about the protagonist who is known for helping lovers reunite. However, in one such instance, he realises that he is in love with the same girl that his friend too is, thus conflicting his morals of friendship and romance.
