Netflix certainly has fans in a chokehold as they are currently sitting on fresh shows and seasons of many already popular IPs that are much anticipated. The streamer, after a lukewarm year, is now preparing for a massive surprise for its subscribers, as they have already announced the release of some. While fans await Stranger Things' final season and more, the latest news is about The Witcher, and it says that the show has been renewed for two more seasons already.

But before you get any more excited, there is upsetting news too. As per the same report that says there are two seasons in the making, the 5th season of the show will be the last time we meet the franchise and will mark the end of the fantasy drama on Netflix. The Witcher Commissioned For Seasons 4 and 5

As per the latest reports doing the rounds on the internet, after enjoying a successful season 3, Netflix has already commissioned The Witcher for two more seasons. It is being said that the two seasons will be based on the three books by Andrzej Sapkowski and will cover them all. What is even more surprising is that the seasons will be shot back to back. Which means the gap between the two will not be very long. The show will, of course, be led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt Of Rivia, but the creator has teased that there will indeed be some new and exciting additions to the show.

The Witcher Season 5 To Be The Last Season

Creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has now spoken about shooting for the fourth and fifth seasons and how it will be interesting to get on sets to shoot two seasons back to back. However, in the comment, the creator went on to call the next season the penultimate season, which means the fifth is the last and final season of The Witcher.

"It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia," creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said, as per Comic Book Movie. "We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit.
