Rajinikanth is set to team up with talented filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, for his 171st film. The project, which was tentatively titled Thalaivar 171 is now officially titled Coolie. After a long wait, the makers finally dropped the much-awaited Thalaivar 171 title reveal teaser on social media, today. The title reveal teaser of Rajnikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ambitious film suggests that Coolie is going to be a dark yet fun ride, which will also provide major nostalgia to the superstar fans.

Coolie - Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar 171 gets a title

The title of Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s much-awaited project Thalaivar 171 - Coolie - came out as a big surprise for the audiences, especially Tamil cinema fans. Just like Vikram, director Lokesh has opted to reuse the title of a famous 1995-released film, for his next outing. However, Rajinikanth was not a part of the original Coolie, which featured senior actor R Sarathkumar in the lead role. However, from the teaser, it is evident that the upcoming film deals with a different subject.

As expected, the Thalaivar 171 aka Coolie title teaser introduces leading man Rajinikanth’s character, who is seen attacking a factor-like-place that is used to store tons of gold, including watches and ornaments. Notably, the teaser has been shot in monochrome with just the gold colour in the highlight, which makes it a unique visual experience. The best part of the teaser is where Rajinikanth once again delivers his iconic dialogue “Thappenna Sariyenna Eppothum Vilaiyaadu”, which is originally from the 1982-released movie Ranga, in style.

Later, as the title Coolie is revealed, the superstar’s nameless character receives a call in the factory land phone from the unknown antagonist, who asks did they finish the intruder. The leading man replies with his signature laughter and asks ‘Mudichidalama?’. The promising teaser suggests that Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj are teaming up for a dark yet fun ride, which is quite different from their recent films. The visuals are stunning, while Rajinikanth's popular Thangamagan song DISCO, which has been used as the teaser background score, could have been more impactful.
