Star, the upcoming Tamil film featuring actor Kavin in the lead role, is set to release on May 10 on big screens. The film is directed by filmmaker Elan of Pyaar Prema Kadhal fame. The film will chronicle the life journey of a boy named Kalai who wants to make it big in the film industry as an actor.

Star release date

Star is set to hit big screens on May 10. The film will be releasing along with Arjun Das-starrer Rasavathi and Uyir Thamizhukku featuring Ameer in the lead role. Star will mark Kavin’s first release this year. He was last seen in the 2023 Tamil hit film Dada, in which he played a single father alongside Aparna Das.

Trailer

The makers released the trailer of Star a few days ago. The trailer showed the journey of Kalai, played by Kavin, who puts all his mighty efforts to become a movie actor. It also showed Kavin appearing in various getups, hinting that the film will traverse across various stages of his life.

Plot

Star is about a man named Kalai who aspires to become a movie star. But the journey to become one is filled with thorns and the film will deal with whether Kalai achieves his dreams or not. In an earlier conversation with OTTplay, Elan had said that he wrote the script of Star inspired by his father’s journey, who is also an actor and goes by the name Pandian. Kavin had also stated that he could connect with the film on a personal level after many of the incidents also took place in his life.

Cast and crew

Headlined by Kavin, the film also stars Lal, Geetha Kailasam, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and others. The film was shot by Dada cinematographer Ezhil Arasu K and edited by Pradeep E Ragav. Yuvan Shankar Raja. who scored for Pyaar Prema Kadhal, has composed for Star as well.

Censor and runtime

Star has been given a clean U certificate by the Censor Board, thus making it a film suitable for all ages of audience. The film will run for two hours and 38 minutes. It is to be noted that Star was first launched with Harish Kalyan. The makers had released posters of the actor dressed in the iconic looks of veteran actors. However, for reasons unknown, he had to exit the project and was replaced by Kavin.
