Sky Force box office report: Akshay Kumar-Veer Pahariya's airborne actioner opens strong

25 days ago | 5 Views

Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar, newcomer Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, and Nimrat Kaur, has finally made it to theatres. The airborne actioner takes place during India's first airstrike. In 1965, during the Indo-Pak air war, India launched a retaliatory attack on Pakistan's Sargodha airbase, which is the basis of the film.

Sky Force gets strong opening

Sky Force had a respectable Friday opening, thanks to the backing of Maddock Films and Jio Studios. The movie offers across platforms helped enhance the performance of the Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya-starrer. Ticket prices range from Rs. 20 to 50 (excluding the booking services' convenience fee).

As per Sacnilk, Sky Force made approximately Rs. 1.78 Cr in India on its opening day. The film had an occupancy rate of 10.26% overall as of 1 pm on 2D screens. On the other hand, the total occupancy rate in IMAX screens was 7.56%.

Potential for stronger box office performance

Assuming Sky Force does well in its early screenings, the airborne actioner should see a surge in attendance in the days to come. With Sara and Nimrat also on board, the film stands a better chance of profiting on Republic Day, when many people go to the movies. With its high budget, Sky Force will need three weeks of strong trending to be considered a success.

Most people think that Akshay's return with Sky Force this year will be a strong one. There were cameo appearances by Akshay in the semi-hit Singham Again and the all-time blockbuster Stree 2. Khel Khel Mein, Sarfira, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the star's previous films, received critical acclaim and faced commercial failure.

With the arrival of Sky Force, Azaad has come to a tragic end. The opening week of Emergency was a disappointment financially.
