Released in theaters on January 9, 2025, Rekhachithram received enthusiastic reviews and quickly captivated audiences. The film surpassed the Rs 50 crore mark within a fortnight at the box office. As reported by industry tracker Sacnilk, the Malayalam film has achieved a global box office collection of Rs 56.75 crore. Additionally, various Twitter accounts suggest that the earnings may be approximately Rs 57.30 crore.

The prominent star had previously shared a post on Instagram indicating that Jofin T Chacko’s directorial venture grossed over Rs 75 crore in global earnings. During a success celebration for Rekhachithram held in Dubai, Asif Ali expressed his happiness that his film stood out as the only success among the various others released in theaters in January 2025. Notable January releases from the Malayalam film industry included Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon's Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, as well as the Basil Joseph-starring Ponman.

Rekhachithram is set to premiere on OTT platforms Sony Liv and OTTplay Premium on March 7, 2025. Audiences will have the opportunity to view the Malayalam thriller in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, complete with English subtitles.

Rekhachithram, with a narrative crafted by Ramu Sunil, centers on a police officer named Vivek who uncovers a decades-old case concerning the enigmatic vanishing of a young woman last seen at a film set in 1985. This film, titled Kathodu Kathoram, was directed by Bharathan and featured Mammootty in the lead role. The essence of Rekhachithram lies in the adept portrayal of the contemporary investigation into an event that transpired four decades prior.
