Rasavathi, the upcoming Tamil film starring actors Arjun Das and Tanya Ravichandran in the lead roles, will be released in theatres this week. Directed by Santhakumar, Rasavathi is expected to be a romance thriller. The film will mark Arjun Das’ second release this year after Por.

Release date

Rasavathi is set to hit the big screens on May 10. The film will be releasing along with Kavin-starrer Star and Ameer’s Uyir Thamizhukku. Rasavathi is backed by Santhakumar under the banner DNA Mechanic Company, with Saraswathi Cine Creation serving as the co-producer.

Trailer

The trailer of Rasavathi was released recently. Without revealing the plot, the trailer which is musical heavy, shows various moments of the lead characters. There are parts of emotions and jail stunt sequences. Presumably, the film is set against a forest backdrop. Towards the end, we see the lead actors in an embrace, while in another Arjun Das' character says that bravery for him is to lose in a duel.

Plot

The story of Rasavathi revolves around a small-time doctor who wants to lead a peaceful life with his wife, leaving the stories of his past behind. But what happens when a police official comes after him with a grudge, forms the rest of the film’s plot.

Cast and crew

Besides Arjun Das and Tanya Ravichandran, the film also stars actors Sujith Sankar, GM Sundar, Sujatha, Ramya Subramaniyan, Reshma Venkatesh, Rishikanth, Arul Jothi, and Deepa, among others. The film is written and directed by Santhakumar who previously made films like Mounaguru and Magamuni. The film is shot by cinematographer Saravanan Ilavarasu with music scored by Thaman. VJ Sabu Joseph has edited the film with Yugabharathi penning the lyrics.

Runtime and censor

Rasavathi has a runtime of two hours and 28 minutes. The film has been censored with a U/A certificate by the Censor Board. The post theatrical streaming partner of the film has not yet been revealed.
