Social media users are praising Sachin and Amal Davis' relationship by sharing memes that claim having an Amal Davis would make life more colourful. Sangeeth Prathap is soaking up the attention and extraordinary love he is getting for his role in Girish AD's most recent blockbuster, Premalu.

Meanwhile, he is a film editor who has had small roles in several films, including Little Miss Rawther and Super Sharanya. Sangeeth talks about his love for filmmaking and his experience working with Girish AD once more in an interview.

Did you expect Amal Davis to receive such positive feedback?

I am still dreaming; that's all I have to say. This love is beyond what I could have imagined. Seeing how much people adore Amal Davis and liken his relationship with Sachin to some of the most memorable friendships in Malayalam cinema is an overwhelming feeling. Social media posts stating that "everyone deserves an Amal Davis in life" have been making me happy. I take immense satisfaction in my role and performance.

You are not working with Girish AD for the first time. How would you characterise his development as a director from Thaneer Mathan Dinangal to Premalu?

These days, there are not many successful filmmakers who can keep audiences entertained. For Girish's first film, Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, I was a spot editor. Because of the humour in this movie, I had a great time being on the sets. My admiration for him grows when I see how well he understands what appeals to the audience through his work.

When someone's beliefs and opinions are validated, we tend to respect them more. It was nothing like the script when we were filming Premalu, and the reaction we are getting now is also not what we were expecting. I have always been enthusiastic about his work.

Has your acquaintance with Naslen improved your performance in the role of Sachin's Amal Davis?

Thanneer Mathan Dinangal's audition tapes were edited by me. The others were all first-timers, with the exception of Mathew. Naslen had been chosen right from the start. Even back then, he was a talented performer, and we anticipated that he would become a big star in our industry.

I have closely observed his development. Despite playing a number of supporting roles, the audience was able to recognise each one of them. His demeanour lends itself well to humour. After each of his films, I would give him a call to express my appreciation or to discuss my thoughts on the work.

Our friendship deepened while Premalu was being filmed. We truly treasure this transition from colleagues to best friends. It's not just Naslen; I have collaborated on various projects with the entire cast. We are all a small family now.

Comedy demands unplanned improvisation. Have you performed any noteworthy modifications?

Yes, during the filming, Naslen and I both made these kinds of improvisations on multiple occasions. One was the thing we did when the characters of Shyam and Mamitha were dancing at a wedding. Girish liked it, even though it wasn't in the script. There was plenty of room for us to figure out the body language and mannerisms of our characters. The script already covered nearly 90% of the humour; the remaining portion is our collective contribution.

Naslen does it naturally. He cracked a spontaneous joke during the scene where we have our first conversation with Mamitha and Akhila at the wedding, and I couldn't stop laughing. The scene was executed perfectly after the second take.

How much did you find Amal Davis relatable?

I have similar friendships in my life. I consider these relationships to be very important and I have strong emotional bonds with my closest companions. I have always felt a connection to Amal Davis and regard him as a part of myself.

What are your upcoming projects?

I have not committed to any acting roles yet, but after watching how Amal Davis's performance in Premalu was received, I feel a little more assured. I was getting approached for roles ranging from 18 to 25 years old because of my physique, which gives the impression that I am much younger than I actually am. I hope to play more parts like this in the future.

Jai Ganesh, on which I have served as editor, is my next project. One day, I hope to direct a movie. To pursue my passion, I am just taking things one step at a time.
