Karunakaran, was a comeback movie for the Rebel star, who, at that time, was seeing back-to-back flop films. Darling was a huge success after its release, becoming a turning point in Prabhas' career. Darling: A story that celebrates love and friendship

Director Karunakaran's movie is about Prabha (played by Prabhas), who meets Nandini (Kajal Aggarwal), his childhood friend, at the reunion party thrown by his father. Things go awry when Nisha (Shraddha Das), a gangster's daughter, falls in love with him. How Prabha frees himself from marrying the gangster’s daughter and reunites with his childhood sweetheart, Nandini, forms the crux of the story. 

Prabhas was lauded for his performance as a romantic hero in this rom-com, impressing fans and critics. Although the film had a predictable story, the movie was appreciated for the lead actors’ chemistry and the technical aspects.
