With a stellar cast of guest sharks, a fresh midweek time slot, and the departure of veteran investor Mark Cuban, ABC's popular business reality series Shark Tank is set to revolutionize things in its upcoming seventeenth season.

According to Variety, Season 17 will include a fascinating combination of new and returning guest sharks, such as Reddit co-founder and venture capitalist Alexis Ohanian; Chip & Joanna Gaines, the couple behind the Magnolia empire; and Allison Ellsworth, the creator and chief brand officer of Poppi.

Michael Strahan, co-founder of SMAC and co-anchor of Good Morning America, will be there along with Fawn Weaver, the creator and CEO of Uncle Nearest Inc.

Kendra Scott and Rashaun Williams, who both served as guest sharks during the previous season, are also making a comeback to the show. These visitors will be part of the main panel of returning sharks who will assess fresh proposals and invest in promising initiatives.

The primary sharks return without Mark Cuban.

In the interim, the show will feature the return of full-time sharks Daymond John, Barbara Corcoran, Robert Herjavec, Kevin O'Leary, Lori Greiner, and Daniel Lubetzky. But significantly missing this season will be Mark Cuban, who departed the program after 15 seasons. Cuban's departure represents a significant shift in the show's dynamic because he frequently invested in a variety of companies.

In 2002, Mark Cuban joined the show as a guest shark before becoming a full-time shark the following year. As reported by People, Cuban made the decision to quit the show in order to devote "more time" to his children, Alexis, Alyssa, and Jake.

After graduating in June, Cubana informed the media that he wants to be there for his kids when they go back to school in September. He continued, stating that he had "no second thoughts" about quitting.

A new time slot for Shark Tank

As part of the network's fall 2025 lineup, Shark Tank will move from its well-known Friday night slot to Wednesdays at 10/9c on ABC, according to another TV Insider article. Prior to the broadcast, there will be a prime-time segment that includes The Golden Bachelor Season 2, Abbott Elementary Season 5, and Shifting Gears Season 2.
