LCU short film update: Here is everything latest we know about the film tracing origins of the universe

We had earlier reported that a short film based on Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) which comprises of films like Kaithi, Vikram and Leo, is in the making. Actor Narain, who plays the role of cop Bejoy in LCU had revealed that he along with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj have been working on the short film which will trace the origins of LCU. Now, as per latest reports, it is understood that the short film will be released soon, within a couple of months.

LCU, created by Lokesh Kanagaraj is a cinematic universe where cop vigilantes from south India are up and arms against the drug peddlers. Popular actors Karthi, Suriya, Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi and Vijay are already part of the universe, whose characters were explored in the films Kaithi, Vikram and Leo.

Lokesh and Narain had been working on the LCU short film, which will be ten minutes long and explore the origins. For the unversed, so far in LCU, Suriya’s Rolex has been established as the antagonist and kingpin of drug trafficking, with Vijay’s Parthiban, Karthi’s Dilli, and Kamal’s Vikram set to join forces to destroy the drug kingdom.

As per recent rumours, the short film is currently in post-production and is directed by Lokesh himself. The film will also feature other characters from the universe, played by Arjun Das, Kalidas Jayaram, Narain and others.

Lokesh’s next with Rajinikanth

Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently working on his next film which will feature Rajinikanth. Marking their first collaboration together, the title glimpse of the film will be revealed on April 22. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander. Actors like Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj are speculated to be part of the film. After this film, Lokesh is expected to work on Kaithi 2 with actor Karthi reprising his role as Dilli, thus extending his LCU universe.
