In December, Tamil cinema will experience a quieter period; however, one of the most anticipated films set to premiere is director Vetrimaaran's second instalment of his duology, Viduthalai 2. Featuring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in the principal roles, the film is slated for release on December 20. As the release date approaches, the production team has revealed that composer Ilaiyaaraja has finalized the background score at his studio.

Viduthalai 2 update: Ilaiyaaraja wraps up scoring

The second instalment of Viduthalai is set to be released on December 20, coinciding with the Christmas season. In preparation for this, the production team has successfully finalized the background score for Viduthalai - Part 2. The film is directed by Vetrimaaran.

In a recent announcement on social media, the producers shared, "Following the successful completion of the background score for Viduthalai Part 2, producer Elred Kumar and director Vetrimaaran visited music legend Ilaiyaraaja at his studio. The team conveyed their appreciation to the esteemed composer for his remarkable contributions to the film’s music, which is anticipated to enhance the overall cinematic experience. This meeting represents a pivotal moment in the development of Viduthalai Part 2, showcasing the commitment and teamwork involved in the project."

Viduthalai is a historical action drama that follows a novice police officer assigned to tackle a grassroots movement opposing oppression and police violence. The film features Soori in the role of the officer, while Vijay Sethupathi, who had a brief appearance in the first instalment, will have a more substantial role in the sequel as the leader of the movement.

ZEE5 has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for Viduthalai 2, which will soon be accessible on OTTplay Premium. The first instalment of the film is currently available for streaming on ZEE5.

Viduthalai 2 is produced by Elred Kumar under the RS Infotainment banner and features a cast that includes Kishore, Manju Warrier, Chetan, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Menon, Rajiv Menon, among others.
