Adityaa to take THIS cop franchise ahead, but there's a catch

After a string of films in which he played a gangster, Kannada actor Adityaa has shifted to the law abiding, or rather enforcing side, with back-to-back cop roles. Adityaa has a film called Kangaroo releasing in theatres on May 3, ahead of which he spoke to Kannada Picchar about being ‘typecast’ in police roles. Kangaroo is his third film as a police officer after Chakravarthy and Munduvareda Adhyaya.
While on the topic, Adityaa said that he has been approached to play a cop yet again, but in a new instalment of a very popular franchise. Although the actor did not name the film franchise, he mentioned it as a brand that was popularized by a famous and respected actor who is no more. “I have been asked to take the franchise ahead and while I can’t talk about it yet, you can guess the cop franchise that was very popular in Kannada cinema. I am still contemplating, because this is a role made famous by a very big actor, who is no longer with us. I am not sure if it would be right on my part to take on the role and don’t know if I will do it eventually, but I have been approached for it,” says Adityaa.
Of course, the offer is tempting, because it will be different, but Adityaa reckons that he needs to get ‘permission’ from the actor’s fans before taking it up. If they don’t agree, he won’t do it, adds the actor, saying that people have a certain image about the role in their minds. “If I do the role, some may like it and others may not,” he says. Going by Adityaa’s revelation, it appears that he has been approached to take on the late Shankar Nag’s Inspector Sangliyana role.
As for playing cops, Adityaa says it is a matter of intense pride to wear khaki. In Kangaroo, Adityaa will investigate a case that’s baffled the department and will get to the bottom of it without ‘action’, which will be a surprise for his fans, considering that he has an action hero image.
