Aavesham, the sophomore project of Romancham maker Jithu Madhavan, is on OTT now. The film, which ‘re-introduduces’ Fahadh Faasil as an over-the-top gangster called Ranga, is a box office hit and has dropped on Amazon Prime Video today, while still enjoying good showing in movie halls. The film became available just over 12 hours ago, and since then, there’s been a steady stream of comments about it and Fahadh’s performance on social media. Currently, Aavesham is streaming in Malayalam only with English subtitles.

'Fahadh Faasil's the greatest actor of this generation'

The comments are largely positive and in praise of the Malayalam actor’s outing as the Malayalam and Kannada speaking Ranganna. Of course, there are a few isolated voices calling Aavesham overrated, but that has been the case with most theatrical hit films after their OTT release. From comments calling Aavesham a better film than this year’s Manjummel Boys and Premalu, to ‘Aavesham is the kind of film that every actor should have in his filmography’, ‘Aavesham is FaFa’s one-man show’, ‘FaFa is the greatest actor of this generation’, ‘Unexpected banger from FaFa and Sushin (Shyam), among others.

Jithu’s writing and Sushin Shyam’s music have also been getting a lot of bouquets, with several audience members also chiming in that they regret not having watched the film on the big screen. The film is about three engineering students, who, as freshers, are subjected to intense ragging, for which they seek payback. They befriend the local gangster Ranga (Fahadh Faasil), who takes the trio under his wing. As exciting as hanging out with Ranga and his gang of thugs is, the threesome soon figure out that being in his circle comes at a cost.

Aavesham also stars Mithun Jai Shankar, Roshan Shanavas, Hipzter, Sajin Gopu and Mansoor Ali Khan, among others. In a recent interview, Fahadh teased the possibility of a sequel, considering that Jithu had eliminated much of Ranga’s backstory in the final cut of the film.
