Ace movie plot

Vijay Sethupathi's character, Bold Kannan, is depicted as having cleansed his past in India before arriving in Malaysia. At the airport, he encounters Arivu (Yogi Babu), a ragpicker who is posing as a businessman in front of his girlfriend Kalpana (Divya Pillai), and he greets him with an enigmatic smile. Arivu assumes Bold Kannan is a laborer and treats him as his helper. He encounters Rukku (Rukmini Vasanth), who supports herself by performing unusual occupations and is attempting to rescue her parents' home from the abusive Raja Durai (Babloo Prithviraj). After losing a gambling wager to loan shark Dharma (BS Avinash), all of this causes Kannan and Arivu to fall into difficulty, but Kannan orchestrates a more daring heist that sends the diverse cast of people on the run.

Ace movie review

We are presented with several different versions of Vijay Sethupathi's history and name in a movie that lasts for two and a half hours. Kannan tells Arivu that he earned the nickname 'Bolt' because he used to steal bolts from automobiles at the scene of conflicts and sell them for profit. Because he is brave enough to question the wrongdoings around him, he is known to Kalpana as "Bold" Kannan, while Rukku refers to him as "Bolt" because his father was obsessed with the bolt that lies between thunder and lightning. Are all of these justifications, and more crucially, are they arbitrary, out of context, and unique to the narrative you just read a few lines ago? If so, then throughout the film you'll experience more of the same.

Ace, which is entirely situated in Malaysia, combines comedy, crime, action, and all the elements necessary for a successful business. The hero, who has the ability to excel in all fields, intervenes and saves the day, while the woman is in peril, there are two villains with extraordinary power both judicially and extra-judicially, and a sidekick who gets into difficulty (thanks to the hero). Because of this combination of all components, Ace is a movie that may be somewhat extended and drawn out, but it doesn't want to approach its conflict gently. As the title indicates, Ace is meant to be a genre that focuses on the excitement and unpredictability of the card game. More of it is done quickly, and if you don't know the game, you'll feel lost. However, Ace is quick to have another plan in action in the shape of a bank robbery and then obediently follow a common commercial template when you anticipate the picture to go deeper into it and establish it as essence. Although the movie addresses subjects like sexual harassment, power relations, and the hard labor of the working class, it seems that Ace attempted to tackle too much at once, having trouble tying everything together.

Ace falls short when you decide to sit for more than two hours to see a movie that promises you more than just a bare engagement, even though we occasionally chuckle with Yogi Babu and Vijay Sethupathi at the center and the movie seems to be somewhat intriguing in places. Even if there aren't many, it's also nice to see Vijay Sethupathi having some fun on camera. Though Rukmini Vasanth, who is making her Tamil film debut with Ace, also has some fair roles to play, there is little to expand upon because of her persona. Ace would have been more likable to see if those parts had been stretched out since there is something lightful about her when she appears on screen.

The film is a winner, according to me.

Ace wants to be an entertainer, and in his films, he doesn't want you to use logic; instead, he wants you to put your faith in the wonders, comforts, and convenience of commercial movies. Although it does arrive, it is not entirely satisfactory. The movie isn't one that you'd regret seeing, but it also wouldn't bring back memories of it.
