Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures have been fully committed to advertising their newest release, Thunderbolts*, which debuted in India on May 1. In a little over a week following the film's debut, they initially concentrated on promoting the name change, referring to it as The New Avengers, influenced by the movie's conclusion. Additionally, they have displayed a comical billboard on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, USA, depicting Stitch from Lilo and Stitch as 'destroying' it all.

Stitch tears through Thunderbolts billboard

An enormous billboard erected on the Boulevard has consistently captured attention online. It showcases the group of misfits from the film, portrayed by Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, standing together on a cereal box—an iteration of a joke from the film regarding superheroes being featured on cereal boxes.

Less than a week following the film’s release, the billboard was revised to display the updated title, with the top of the cereal box ripped off and The New Avengers visible, as Thunderbolts with an asterisk had always been hinted at as a provisional name.

The newest image displays a joyful Stitch ripping open the cereal box on the poster and dominating the story to advertise Disney’s live-action Lilo and Stitch movie. The cast of Thunderbolts and the updated title are no longer seen on the poster.

Internet reacts

When the promotion for the title change from Thunderbolts to The New Avengers began less than a week before the film's release, some individuals online considered it a significant 'spoiler. ' Now, many find it amusing that Stitch has completely taken over, even before the film could finish its theatrical run. “That’s the reason Marvel hurried so much to change the title. They were aware Stitch was on the way,” quipped one Redditor, while another referred to it as “Billboardception. ”

A fan responded to the new billboard, stating, “Stitch was trying to prevent people from being spoiled too soon. ” Another commented, “Literally the first thing I discovered about this movie is that it’s actually a [spoiler]. ” A fan on X (formerly Twitter) joked, “Annnnnd he ruined it,” while another felt that Thunderbolts’ tagline ‘everyone deserves a second shot’ was fitting for Stitch, saying, “And the wording/quote makes so much sense with Stitch. ” A fan even referenced Shrek, saying, “Like ogres, this joke has layers. ”
