Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh welcomed their beloved daughter in September 2024; however, it took them nearly two months to settle on a name for the baby. Deepika, in a recent interview, disclosed how the couple arrived at the name, Dua.

In an interview with Marie Claire, the Om Shanti Om actor mentioned that they were not rushed to name their baby, saying, “I believe what was more significant for us was to first embrace the baby in our arms, let her explore this new world she’s entered, and allow her personality to start forming a little. ”

Deepika took inspiration from poetry

While contemplating the name, the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actor looked to poetry and music for ideas. They settled on Dua, which translates to prayer in Arabic, as it beautifully encapsulated her significance to the new parents Deepika and Ranveer. “It felt like a lovely summary of what she signifies to us and why she holds that significance,” the actor stated.

Recalling the precise moment when the couple finalized the name, Deepika explained that she texted Ranveer late at night while he was away filming. “Dua? ” she texted, and Ranveer replied, “yes, and that was it. ”

On November 1, 2024, Deepika and Ranveer Singh shared an adorable picture of Dua (not revealing her face) on Instagram and announced her name. In the caption, Deepika wrote, “Dua Padukone Singh. ‘Dua’: meaning a Prayer. Because She is the Answer to our Prayers. Our hearts are filled with Love and Gratitude. Deepika and Ranveer.

About Deepika's latest projects

Deepika is presently on a break, attending to her mommy responsibilities and caring for her daughter. She was last seen in Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD alongside Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, and it is reported that she will begin working on the film's sequel soon. There are speculations that the actor will be part of Shah Rukh Khan's King, which also features Suhana Khan. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the movie includes Abhishek Bachchan and Arshad Warsi in crucial roles. However, Deepika's role has not yet been confirmed by the producers.
