In a significant relief for Ranveer, the Supreme Court on Monday instructed the police to return his passport to allow him to travel for professional purposes after the Assam and Maharashtra governments informed the court that their inquiries regarding him into the indecent comments on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent have concluded.

After receiving his passport, Ranveer, also known as BeerBiceps, boarded a flight out of India. He commemorated the occasion with a joyful Instagram post, sharing a photo of himself with a suitcase at the airport.

He wrote, “Passport mil gaya guys (have got my passport back guys). ” Ranveer also posted a screenshot of the Supreme Court's order regarding the return of his passport. Additionally, Ranveer shared a picture of himself relaxing comfortably in business class, apparently savoring his journey after finally being able to leave India.

Ranveer asks for his passport

Ranveer, who has 10. 4 million subscribers on YouTube, initially requested the return of his passport in March this year, noting that he needed to travel extensively and interview individuals for the podcast, “his only source of livelihood. ” He had handed over the passport to the police following the Supreme Court’s order on February 18, which offered him protection from arrest concerning multiple FIRs filed due to his remarks during a show. The episode of India’s Got Latent was uploaded to YouTube on February 9 and removed two days later after a complaint from the union government.

On Monday, the solicitor general informed the court that the investigation against Ranveer had been finished and requested that Ranveer continue to assist with the investigation until the charge sheet was filed. Maharashtra and Assam have alleged that Ranveer and several others have insulted the modesty of women (section 79), incited hatred (section 196), disrespected religious beliefs (section 299), and committed acts against public decency (section 299), among other sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

About India’s Got Latent stir

In February, Ranveer Allahbadia found himself embroiled in a controversy after his appearance on an episode of India’s Got Latent, which also included Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani. During the show, Ranveer posed a provocative question to a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever? ”

At that moment, everyone present on the show laughed it off, but the comment did not resonate well with certain politicians and social media users. It faced severe backlash, resulting in multiple FIRs against the creators and participants of the show. In an apology video on X, Ranveer acknowledged that his comment was not only inappropriate but also lacked humor. He also submitted a written apology to the NCW regarding his offensive remarks made during the show.
