Ranneeti actor Jimmy Shergill recalls the panic after Pulwama attack - 'I was shooting in Punjab and suddenly we...' | Exclusive

Jimmy Shergill's new web series, Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond, was released today on JioCinema. The actor plays the pivotal role of Kashyap Sinha in the series. The Santosh Singh directorial sheds light on two events, a Pulwama attack that shocked the entire nation and another the Balakot air strike by India. In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Jimmy recalled the panic after Indian CRPF soldiers were attacked in Pulwama on February 14, 2019.

Speaking exclusively with us, Jimmy Shergill said when the Pulwama attack happened in 2019, there was chaos all around. 

"Chandigarh ke aas paas somewhere I was shooting in Punjab when we were informed that something happened and we had to leave. We were on the location and suddenly we had to wrap up. We had 4 to 5 hours drive to Chandigarh through the interiors. When we reached, we weren't getting any flights Direct Bombay ki nahi mil rahi thi. I had to take a flight to Delhi and then take a connecting flight to Mumbai because that area in the North becomes a little volatile and sensitive at that point in time," recalled Jimmy.

The actor continued to reveal that he and his project's team were informed that airports were going to shut by 7 pm. "By the time we got home is when you realise that 'Oh my god! This is serious stuff'. The whole nation was drawn to this entire thing," he added.

Meanwhile, Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond is now streaming on JioCinema. Besides Jimmy Shergill, the web series stars Lara Dutta, Ashish V idyarthi, Ashutosh Rana and Prasanna in the key roles. The initial responses to Ranneeti have been positive but it remains to be seen how it will strike a right chord with the masses or not.
