Nayanthara and Siddharth are all set to appear onscreen together in their upcoming sports-based Tamil film The Test . On the Chithha star’s birthday, the Lady Superstar took to her social media pages to give a shoutout to her upcoming film’s co-star. Calling the actor a ‘genius’, the actress shared a sweet birthday wish that read, “Happy Birthday Genius, have a great bday and an amazing year ahead (sic)”.

For the unversed, The Test, directed by Sashikanth, will mark the first onscreen collaboration between the Lady Superstar and the Chithha actor. The film, based on cricket, also stars Meera Jasmine and R Madhavan in pivotal roles. Earlier, posters of the four actors were revealed during Diwali last year, that showcased Nayanthara, Madhavan and Siddharth undergoing intense makeovers for the film.

The Test latest update

Earlier in January, the team had wrapped up the shooting of the film and had shared a BTS video, featuring the lead actors, with various shots from the sets being displayed. They are seen having a good time at a cricket stadium, with artists getting ready, technicians working and clapboards clicking. Towards the end of the video, Siddharth is seen saying that the shooting has been completed. The release date of the film is yet to be announced by the makers, though it has been revealed that it will hit the theatres in the summer of 2024.

The Test marks Meera Jasmine’s comeback to Tamil

The Test is helmed by debutant director Sashikanth, who was earlier known for his production ventures. The film stars Siddharth, Madhavan and Nayanthara in the lead roles, alongside Meera Jasmine in a pivotal role. The Test will mark Meera Jasmine’s comeback to Tamil cinema after the 2014 film Vingyani. In The Test, Nayanthara will be sharing screen space with Madhavan and Siddharth for the first time. Nayanthara plays the role of Kumudha and has recently completed shooting her portions. On the other hand, Madhavan, Meera Jasmine and Siddharth previously worked together in the 2004 film Ayutha Ezhuthu, which was directed by Mani Ratnam.
