Actor-turned-politician Kanchan Mullick was asked to leave from a campaign rally on Thursday. MP Kalyan Banerjee reportedly asked Kanchan to leave his car. It created a buzz in the political arena. Kanchan’s ex-wife Pinki Banerjee reportedly laughed at it.
Kalyan Banerjee said, “I asked you not to come. The village women are reacting negatively to seeing you.” Are they reacting due to Kanchan’s multiple marriages? Now, Kanchan’s ex-wife Pinki Banerjee commented on this. She expressed her surprise hearing the news. Then she stifled her laughter and told the media that she did not like to know anymore and she is now handling her life on her own terms.
Kanchan and actress Sreemoyee Chattoraj reportedly started dating in 2020. Pinki accused Kanchan of an extra-marital affair which created much controversy during that time. Kanchan and Pinki divorced in February 2024 and Kanchan married Sreemoyee on February 14. The instructions on the board in their reception venue read ‘No media person, security people, and driver are allowed.’ Now he is again involved in controversy while campaigning.
Kanchan told Sangbad Pratidin Dot In on Thursday, “He did not throw me out. When I rode his car he said, ‘Don’t go to the campaign. The villagers are reacting to seeing you. Sorry to say. Let me conduct the election.’ He told me this and I got down from his car. See, I don’t know if he has any campaigning strategy.” Kanchan said, “I went for a party campaign supporting the candidate. He told me to get down, and I got down.”
Are the women reacting if Kanchan is there? Are they agitating? Kanchan, the MLA from Uttarpara, replied, “He said that they are reacting. But I did not see anything when I went campaigning. They neither praised me nor protested.” He added, “I don’t know if someone told Kalyan Banerjee anything or whether he heard anything.” Will he go to the top leadership regarding the matter? Kanchan said, “I will comment no more regarding this. There was no altercation.”
