In a statement, actor-producer Kamal Haasan announced the postponement, asserting that ‘art can wait, India comes first’.

The recent weeks have been harsh for India, following the killings of tourists and others in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, by militant groups from Pakistan. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor, in which the Indian Armed Forces targeted the “terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. ” Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated, with national security in jeopardy.

In response to this, actor-politician Kamal Haasan issued a statement regarding the delay of the audio launch for his forthcoming film Thug Life. The gathering was planned for May 16. "Art can wait. India comes first," commenced the statement, which noted that due to the recent events and the nation being on high alert, the gathering has been delayed. "As our soldiers stand resolute on the frontlines with unwavering bravery in defense of our homeland, I think it is a moment for silent solidarity, not festivities," the message remarked, with an alternate event date to be announced later.

ThugLife is penned and helmed by Mani Ratnam and stars the Vikram actor Kamal Haasan in the main role alongside Silambarasan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami, Joju George, Nasser, and others. The music is composed by AR Rahman. Thug Life is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 5. It is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies.
